Rested Up

It's amazing how much difference a week can make. After the Morgan Hill Triathlon I was feeling a bit tired, which concerned me that it was only the first triathlon. With one days rest I headed back into a full week of training, working on increasing the intensity. Tuesday I did a brick workout (when you combine two disciplines of triathlon in one training period/day). I worked out a hour and half with Tri Valley Masters (swimming). TVM is a tough workout for me, but helping my endurance. Earlier I had done my 6 mile speed run. My weekly 13 mile run on Thursday was in the warmer weather which challenged me to think about my re hydration techniques. Thankfully by the weekend I was feeling full of life again.

Most fun this week had to be the triathlon clinic on Saturday morning with Fleet Feet. I felt strong in the open water and am really adjusting to swimming in a wetsuit. For some of the ladies it was their first time in open water. Helping them through it really made me stop and think about the basics, which I think helped me solidify my own technique in the water.

Life is upside down sometimes, things come into our path that frustrate us, they slow us down, require time that we don't think we have, and mucho money spent. In the end, however, some of these circumstances turn out to be precious jewels. Could it be because we are forced to slow down and see things from a different perspective? I am all about reaching destinations but I want to learn through the journey as well.

This week my Grandma was asking a lot of questions about triathlons and how you get from sport to sport. I thought I would take sometime this next week to put together a tri 411 page for those of you who want to better understand the multi-sport. Lesson #1 the order of disciplines is swim, bike, run unless otherwise noted.
